Welcome
From the Headteacher, Mrs Penny:
Welcome to the Woodlands Park School Website. I hope that you find it informative and interesting.
Please enjoy exploring the pages of our website to find out more about our school, the environment, the curriculum, our achievements, activities and events. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us. We would always be pleased to see you if you wished to visit the school.
We Are Special!
At Woodlands Park we believe that we are special! Not only do we have our own swimming pool which means all our pupils can have quality swimming lessons during the Summer and sometimes Autumn term but we have extensive, beautiful grounds which are used as a rich learning environment. Science lessons often take place outside in our wild woodland area or pond. We have willow tunnels which are wonderful for exploring and hiding. Stories take on new meanings when they are read to the children in the woods, or sitting under the shade of a tree. Our Assistant Head Teacher, Katy Lee is a qualified Forest School Trainer and all the children have the opportunity to take part in learning about the environment, using their maths, science and geography skills when they visit Beechgrove Wood, Marlow.
We also believe that it is really important that we all understand where our food comes from and how to grow and cook our own meals. We plant, grow, harvest and cook our own fruit and vegetables. Also our resident chickens keep us supplied with eggs. We also employ our own cook, Mrs Brind. All our meals are cooked fresh each day and children can choose on a day to day basis what they would like for lunch. We offer a choice of three meals a day, including a vegetarian option. The school kitchen has been awarded the Five Star Food Award. The school has also been awarded the Bronze Food For Life award for commitment to using locally sourced, fresh ingredients as much as possible and providing an enjoyable experience at lunchtimes.
We had an Ofsted Inspection in March 2010 and the inspectors recognised the great work we have been doing recently and said that Woodlands Park is "improving at a rapid pace under new leadership" and that the pupils' attainment has recently 'accelerated' due to the increasingly good teaching. Our Foundation Stage was deemed as 'Good' by Ofsted and the inspectors said that "The children's days are filled with fun and laughter and so they make good progress"
Take a look in the gallery for some pictures of the great things we get up to at Woodlands Park. Once again, we warmly welcome visits to our school so don't take our word for it.... come and see us in action.
