Special Educational Needs and Disabilities at Woodlands Park Primary School
At Woodlands Park Primary and Nursery School, we are committed to providing every child with an equal opportunity to achieve in all areas of school life. We believe that children achieve best when they are happy and comfortable. Our nurturing approach and emphasis on children’s emotional care is a priority. We ensure that our pupils have access to a broad and balanced curriculum, regardless of any perceived difficulties.
The Inclusion Leader works collaboratively with staff and parents in identifying those children who have Special Educational Needs; support is put in place and is regularly reviewed.
We have a dedicated team of staff; many have received training for particular interventions. All staff work closely with the Inclusion Leader to support Quality First Teaching and individual and group learning. Interventions have specific and measurable targets, which are closely monitored to ensure that they make a difference for our pupils. We promote a culture of collaborative responsibility between parents/carers and ensure that they are a part of the reviewing process. Where more targeted support is needed, the Inclusion Leader will consult with parents/carers about seeking support from Local Authority services and other stakeholders.
