The School Day

Breakfast club starts at 8 a.m. This is a paid service that runs from the hall until 8.40 a.m.  Early birds runs from 8.15 a.m. and is an extension of our breakfast club.

The school day starts at 8.40am when all children are expected to be in class ready for registration.

The children will be greeted on the playground by a member of school staff between 8:30am and 8:40am. Reception and Nursery parents will wait with their child in the EYFS outdoor space and the other groups will line up on the playground. Parents/carers of Years 1 – 2 must wait with their child on the playground until they collected by the class teacher.

Years 3 – 6 will wait independently and make their way into school when dismissed by a member of staff.

Reception class have free flow learning, inside and outside, throughout the morning.  All year groups have morning break time at 10.40am each day (20 minutes).

During morning break Reception Class and Key Stage One (Years 1 & 2) are provided with a piece of fruit or vegetable as part of the government’s free School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme (SFVS). Children in Key Stage 2 are welcome to also bring a piece of fruit or vegetable to eat at this time.

Key Stage One are also able to have a learning break in the afternoon if this is required (2-2.15 p.m.)

Reception have lunch at 11.45 am until 12:30pm each day. For the rest of the school lunchtime starts at 11.55 p.m. for Year 1 and then five minute intervals until 12.15 pm. Lunchtime finishes at 12.45 p.m. for key stage 1 and 1 p.m. for key stage 2.

During this time, the children have an allocated time to eat their lunch and also time to get some fresh air, socialise with their peers and play with the playground equipment.

At the end of the school day, Nursery – Year 2 are dismissed from their classroom doors. Years 3 - 6 make their way to the playground ready to be dismissed. Parents and carers are allowed to go onto the playground from 3.10 p.m.  

There are also a range of extra-curricular clubs that run afterschool. After school clubs run from 3.15 – 4.15 p.m.

The total time this amounts to in a typical week is: 32 hours and 55 minutes.
