I hope you had a great break and are now ready for the new term. I would like to say how proud I am of our Badger class for their enthusiasm, dedication and hard work in putting together such an amazing assembly at the end of last term.
This term I will continue to use Class Dojo as a tool for communicating with parents, updating you about events and for sharing important information. At the same time, I will look for those children who always go ‘Over and Above’ in their effort and behaviour and reward them with Hot Chocolate with The Head on Friday afternoon.
Remember to check our photo gallery on this page. New photos are added each term.
In Literacy we will write fantasy and mystery stories. They will consider the impact of short or long paragraphs and look at how cohesion is achieved within and between paragraphs. The use of a range of punctuation and dialogue will be the focus of our writing lessons.
In Maths our main focus will be on gaining a deeper understanding of the content taught previous terms. This term the children will study the following: Place Value (large whole numbers), Fractions (compare, order, equivalent fractions, add, subtract), Decimals (numbers up to three decimal places), Position and Direction (reflection, translation) and Line Graphs (solve problems).
During this term we will be looking at the topic of ‘Properties of materials”, comparing and grouping together everyday materials on the basis of their conductivity and solubility. The children will use different processes to separate mixtures of materials. They will also be able to identify and learn about irreversible changes.
This half term in Geography we will be exploring Rivers. This unit will cover the following topics: the water cycle; how rivers erode, transport and deposit materials; the importance of rivers. During our trip to the River and Rowing Museum in Henley, the children will also have the opportunity to investigate a river in detail and discuss the causes of river pollution.
Our RE topic will mainly be about the Jewish worship and community. We will learn about some of the key features of worship in Judaism and the significance of prayer in Judaism. The children will investigate the meaning of Jewish rituals in relation to joining the Jewish community. Our RE lessons will allow time to ask and respond to questions about the Jewish worship while reflecting on personal emotions.
The D&T topic this term is Fashion and Textiles. This unit will allow children to investigate and analyse items made using textiles. The children will also design an item and join fabric pieces by hand sewing.
This term, the children will learn to create music. First, they will edit sampled music with code by changing variables and using loops. Then they will layer sounds to create multi-track music and add effects. Finally, they will build tracks of music using virtual instruments.
PE DAYS -NEW!!!

Outdoor PE – Monday afternoons

Ensure your child always has in school an appropriate P.E. kit. Earrings should be removed, if this is not possible please provide micro-pore tape for your children and long hair must be tied back.
During this term we will look at the topic of ‘People around me’. Children will learn to talk about people’s names and pets. They will use songs and rhymes to remember the Spanish alphabet. They will also be able to have short conversations in Spanish.
* PUNCTUALITY- Please remember that the children need to be at school for 8.40 am. Please be reminded that if your child is not in school before 8.50 am they will be registered with a late mark. In KS2, we regularly stress how punctuality and organisation are very important life skills, so please help us enhance this learning by arriving in school on time every day. Thank you for your help with this.
* CLASS FUND - Each term we ask for a small contribution of £2. This goes towards extra resources, such as ingredients for cooking and arts and crafts. This contribution is so important at Christmas and Easter time when we want to make lots of arty things that the children can proudly take home.
