In English, children will be immersed in the magical world of Frindleswylde. Through drama, discussion, and imaginative writing, they will explore character, setting, and figurative language. Pupils will produce a range of written outcomes including letters, poetry, dialogue, persuasive speeches, and descriptive writing. The main outcome will be to plan and write their own sequel, Frindleswylde Returns. Reading sessions will focus on developing comprehension skills such as prediction, summarising, and understanding vocabulary in context.
In Mathematics, pupils will focus on multiplication and division, including times tables, factor pairs, related facts, and written methods. Later in the term, they will move on to area, length, and perimeter, learning how to measure, compare, and calculate using a variety of units. Problem-solving and reasoning will be embedded throughout.
In Science, pupils will study Living Things and Their Habitats. They will explore different habitats, classify animals, learn about adaptations, and create their own classification keys. The term will end with a focus on pond plants, helping children understand ecosystems and how living things are suited to their environments.
In PSHCE, the theme is Dreams and Goals. Pupils will reflect on their hopes and ambitions, learn how to cope with disappointment, set new goals, and develop resilience. They will also explore teamwork, collaboration, and celebrating group achievements.
In History, children will begin a unit on the Wild West, learning about European settlement, pioneers, Native American life, homesteaders, and cowboys. They will examine different perspectives and how life changed for people during this period.
In Computing, pupils will explore data handling and 3D design. They will learn how to use spreadsheets to organise and present information using charts and graphs. Later, they will design and build 3D models, developing their spatial awareness and creativity.
In Art, pupils will explore plant art, developing skills in observation, printing, sculpture, and collage. They will experiment with texture, composition, and colour to create expressive natural artworks.
In PE, pupils will focus on dance, developing coordination, balance, control, and teamwork. They will create and perform sequences, refining their movements and working collaboratively.
In Music, children will explore the song STOP! and develop their understanding of rhythm, melody, tempo, and structure. They will sing, perform, compose, and reflect on their musical learning.
In RE, pupils will learn about Sikh rites of passage, including naming ceremonies, Amrit, marriage, and beliefs about life after death. This will help them understand the importance of faith, community, and tradition.
Throughout the term, pupils will take part in enriching experiences such as National Storytelling Week, a visit to Waltham Place Farm, Safer Internet Day, Children’s Mental Health Week, and a dance festival, giving them opportunities to celebrate creativity, wellbeing, and personal growth.
