TERM 6
This term our topic is the Norman Conquest. We will be exploring this time period as well as investigating the Domesday book and revisiting the monarchs of Britain since William the First. Our science topic is sound where we will experiment with how sound travels and can be manipulated.
Maths will cover key areas such as decimals, time, shape, position, direction, and consolidation of core arithmetic. Emphasis is placed on real-world applications like reading time, measuring area, and understanding coordinates.
Our English is rooted in rich texts including The Selfish Giant, Weslandia, and Pride: The Story of Harvey Milk, through which students explore various writing genres—from narrative storytelling and character descriptions to non-chronological reports and biographical writing. Grammar, spelling, and punctuation continue to be a focus.
In PSHE, pupils will explore resilience, friendship, peer pressure, and managing emotions like jealousy. They also learn about body changes during puberty and celebrate personal uniqueness. Our PE focus this term is cricket and swimming. Children develop batting, fielding, and swimming techniques while building teamwork and physical confidence. During Mrs Butcher’s computing lessons we will learn about online safety, privacy, misinformation, and the role of AI, building skills to navigate digital spaces responsibly. DT will offer children the opportunity to explore seasonal foods and healthy eating through baking and hands-on projects like den building and kite making.
