A place for everyone. Together, we are inspired to grow, learn and achieve.
THE EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE (EYFS)
The early years foundation stage (EYFS) sets standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old.
All schools and Ofsted-registered early years providers must follow the EYFS, including childminders, preschools, nurseries and school reception classes.
In Owls Class (Reception) we have given considerable thought to what our curriculum looks and feels like to support the development and learning of each and every child and to the activities, experiences and opportunities provided throughout the year to meet the needs and interests of our current cohort of children. We are mindful of each of the seven areas of learning, three PRIME AREAS (of significant importance and underpinning all learning) and four SPECIFIC AREAS and how they are interrelated, along with the CHARACTERISTICS of EFFECTIVE LEARNING (CoEL) (see document below for further explanation regarding each area of learning). This is all achieved through providing play-based learning opportunities often 'in the moment' in reaction to a child or group of children's particular interests. Our aim is to keep you abreast of all that we do by sharing our adventures here on our class page and via Tapestry too
