Welcome to Woodlands Park Primary & Nursery School

Welcome to our school website. We hope you find it interesting and informative.

Headteacher Welcome

Welcome to Woodlands Park Primary School!
Our Vision:  A place for everyone. Together, we are inspired to grow, learn and achieve.

From the Headteacher, Mrs Penny:

Welcome to the Woodlands Park School Website. I hope that you find it informative and interesting.

We are a small community school situated in the heart of Woodlands Park Village.  Our school day runs from 8.40-3.15 for Key Stage One and Two. The Nursery runs from 8.40 until 11.45 with a lunch club until 1pm. There is a Breakfast Club from 8am onwards and various after school clubs which change on a regular basis.  The after school clubs generally run until 4.30pm and this year consist of art, football, environment and film.
Please enjoy exploring the pages of our website to find out more about our school, the environment, the curriculum, our achievements, activities and events. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us. We are always pleased to welcome and show visitors around.  You do not need to wait until an open day.

The Woodlands Park Family

At Woodlands Park we believe that we are all part of a nurturing family.  We are passionate about ensuring all our children achieve their potential, whatever their starting point.  We are a welcoming and inclusive school and aim to ensure all our 'family members' have a positive and fulfilling experience during their time here.  At Woodlands Park, we have a trained staff who are experienced in teaching children with different needs and abilities.  There is a strong focus on inclusion and developing independence.  Our Teaching and Learning Assistants work alongside teachers to ensure that all children are able to access the curriculum.

We have fostered strong and positive links with our families as well as with our neighbouring schools, ensuring both children and staff can take advantage of the expertise of others in the local community.

At Woodlands Park we have developed a broad and balanced curriculum which is exciting and offers opportunities for child-led enquiry.  The children are able to enjoy a range of trips and visits to enrich their learning including outdoor and adventurous activities and museum visits.

Our school allotment and chickens provide us with fruit, vegetables, herbs and eggs which are given to the school cook, Mrs Copeland who then uses them when cooking up delicious school meals.

We had an Ofsted Inspection in November 2017 which confirmed that 'Woodlands Park is a Good School'. Here are just a few highlights from the report. Please see Key Information section of this webiste to read the full report.

"Your staff work well as a team. They are enthusiastic and determined to help pupils achieve well. Together with the rest of your senior leadership team, you have focused, quite rightly, on improving the quality and consistency of teaching so that pupils make good progress in their learning."

"I enjoyed talking to your pupils. They spoke confidently about their work and how much they like school. One pupil said that the school feels like a big family. You make sure that newly arrived pupils settle in well. Pupils respect their teachers and feel safe and valued."

"Staff value and care for pupils. They know each pupil well and are prompt in reporting any concerns. School

leaders go to great lengths to ensure that absent pupils are safe. Several parents reported that the school looks after their children well."

"Historical information shows an improving picture for pupils’ achievement in the early years and key stage 1."

"you have maintained a clear focus on continuing to improve provision and outcomes for [Key Stage Two] pupils in these subjects" [English and Maths].
