A place for everyone. Together, we are inspired to grow, learn and achieve.
Well, it's been a fantastic final day here in Rhos-y. The children have all been doing the same activity, where they had to use all the skills they know to navigate and orientate themselves from one location back to the centre. All of us teachers got a head start and went off on our own little walk, leaving the children to work as a team to find their way. Don't worry, they all made it back safe and sound and loved it!They also had the chance to visit the zip wire, located in the owner of Rhos-y's back garden and then went for a paddle in the river! We ended the day with a brilliant disco and the children showed just how much they have got on with each other this week as they were all dancing and laughing together for one last time before we head home tomorrow!
The children are all packed and tucked up in bed asleep, ready for the journey home tomorrow! See you then.
Another fantastic day of activities, with all the children coming back laughing and smiling. Today, two groups went down the mine and had a candlelit lunch, with both groups enjoying scrambling up all the slate before climbing up the fantastic underground waterfall to get out of the mine. Another group went sailing today and found it difficult as there was no wind before lunch, but this allowed them to get used to the boats ready for the wind to pick up after lunch and they could have a bit more fun racing each other around Lake Bala. It was my groups turn to canoe and gorge walk and it was brilliant. We were able to travel across the lake in groups of 3 or 4 to reach the other side, where we ate our lunch and toasted our marshmallows. We then headed up to the gorge and 'swam' back down, all the children were having fun and laughing, which made the experience even more enjoyable!
Tomorrow is the last day of activities and the children are heading out on a hill trail to navigate their way back to the Rhos-y centre. The weather is looking sunny, so i'm sure it will be a fantastic day!
Today the weather has taken a downward turn but this has not dampened our spirits or enthusiasm. Two groups went canoeing this morning and battled the Bala Lake wind and waves to land on a beach where everyone had the chance to toast marshmallows and have a rest before braving the journey back. After lunch both groups went to the gorge and had great fun climbing the gorge and 'swimming' back down. The third group went sailing and again were battling with the wind but found a cove that enabled them to sail across the lake and develop their sailing skills. My group went down the slate mine and had a fantastic time especially scaling an underground waterfall in order to get out. We all had a natural face mask from the mud!
It is now 10.00pm and all seems to be quiet - let's hope it lasts!
Everything here in Rhos-y is still great. The weather has been very sunny today so we took advantage. My group went sailing and after a calm start the wind got up but the children coped brilliantly with the more challenging condition and then went for a bit of swimming in the lake at the end of the session, which proved to be very popular! Two groups went climbing and their determination and resilience was inspiring. They all challenged themselves and many of them got to the top of the ropes, surprising even themselves.
The final group went canoeing and gorge walking. Canoeing was great until the wind got up, where choppy waves made the journey back much quicker. All the children loved the gorge walk. The evening entertainment was orienteering and we are waiting to find out which group were the winners. It is now 10.30pm and children all in bed - let's hope they will soon all be asleep!
Please be patient, I will only have a chance to upload the website around this time in the evening.
